Frequently Asked Questions

When we “transcribe” your prescription, it simply means we’re accurately copying the details of your medication from your doctor’s original notes or international prescription into a UK legal prescription. This allows you access to prescription medication in the UK.

By law only UK or EEU prescriptions can be dispensed by a UK pharmacy. Furthermore, there are strict rules about using an electronic prescription which many pharmacies will not be able to accept.

Our trained in-house prescribers are responsible for transcribing prescriptions. They’re experts at understanding medication details and making sure everything is correct.

We carefully transcribe all the important details, including:

  • Your full name, date of birth and a UK address.

  • The name of your medication.

  • How strong it is (its strength).

  • How much you need to take (the dose).

  • How often you should take it (the frequency).

  • The total amount we need to give you.

  • Any special instructions from your doctor.

With EPS, your NHS doctor sends your prescription directly to your chosen NHS pharmacy electronically. Here at My Private Chemist, we only deal with private prescriptions.

Don’t worry! Our pharmacy team is highly experienced in deciphering prescriptions. If anything is unclear or could be misunderstood, we will always contact your GP or hospital doctor directly to clarify before we prepare your medication.

The transcription process is a quick but essential step in preparing your medication safely. While it takes a moment, it’s usually part of the overall dispensing process and shouldn’t cause a significant delay in you getting your medicine.

Creating a signed paper copy ensures that we have a clear, official, and legally compliant record of your medication, which is essential for dispensing in the UK. It helps us meet regulatory standards and provides a reliable reference for your treatment.

You have two convenient options:

  1. Local Pharmacy Collection: We can provide you with the signed paper copy, and you can take it to any local pharmacy.

  2. Our Dispensing Service: You can choose for us to dispense and provide your medication directly as collection or delivery anywhere in the UK.

If you choose for us to dispense your medication, you have two flexible options:

  1. Collection: You can collect your medication directly from our premises in Liverpool Street, London.

  2. Delivery: We can post your medication to any address in the UK, offering a convenient way to receive your supplies without leaving home

We accept prescriptions written by qualified professionals from most countries. The document must clearly include your name, medication details, dosage, prescribing doctor’s name, and date of issue.

Ideally, yes an appointment is necessary. You can simply email or upload your prescription online, and it will be reviewed by a UK prescriber. We will then get back to you as quick as we can.

Yes, there is a minimum conversion fee of £30.

No schedule 2 and 3 drugs will be prescribed. These are not eligible for conversion. Schedule 4 and 5 drugs will be considered on a very strict basis.
